From Valjean to The Phantom, Geronimo Rauch is well-versed when it comes to iconic roles! He chatted with The Pickwyck about his Les Mis run and how he is taking on Phantom of the Opera on the West End in this new interview!
Tell us where you grew up and how you got involved in theater?
What was it like having your first job starring in Les Mis and having been a fan of it since you were younger, being the first show you were exposed to?
What was something you gained from being in that production?
You portrayed Jean Valjean in Les Mis in Spain. What was it like stepping into that iconic role?
It is a very iconic role!
Had you always wanted to perform in the West End?
Can you tell us of any differences between theater in the West End versus theater in Spain?
You participated in the 25th Anniversary concert of Les Mis in 2010, what was that like for you? You were performing with all these different cast members, including members of the original cast!
You are currently portraying Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera in the West End. What are you bringing to this role that is different from other portrayals?
Since this role is so widely known and loved by so many, were you at all nervous about going in and performing?
We commend you for taking on this role, among others, being as English is not your first language. Was it ever really difficult for you?
